As of August 1st, 2021 I will no longer be providing color consultation or design services in the Pacific Northwest as I will no longer be residing in Oregon.
This is an interactive process. We’ll work together in home or onsite to select interior and/or exterior paint colors that fit with your overall design goals. Included with color selection will be an explanation of paint, sheen, how lighting effects your paint colors.
For exterior, we will take into account the architectural details of the building or home to enhance its visual appeal.
We’ll do the color work taking into account everything in your home or commercial space, including flooring, counters, and tiles. We’ll also look at your furniture, bedding, pillows and rugs. Even pictures can be useful!
You’ll be asked to interpret colors as we move around the space.
For example, note how color changes dramatically when viewed in a shadowed corner versus full daylight. What is your response or reaction? Based on your responses, we’re able to pull paint colors from the decks that can correct any undesired outcome.
During your consultation we’ll offer tips about design do’s and don’ts. Our goal is to give you a clear vision of how your project will come together.
At the conclusion of the consultation, we will detail out your selected colors on a “color consult form” and provide you with paper versions of the colors you’ve chosen. This is a great record for your files and a great way to send this to contractors if you’re still in the process of acquiring paint bids.
Each project is unique so please contact us for more project specific information.
No. By asking questions and determining what YOU like, we’re able extract your vision and to provide choices for you to select colors that suit your likes, style and décor.
We educate you on how to “read” color, and by moving around the rooms with the color samples we are able to examine together how a color changes in differing light. You can then eliminate the colors that you don’t care for and narrow options. We understand architecture dos and don’ts. We’ll steer you in the right direction, and make it fun along the way!
Typically, 90-minutes, depending on the size of the project. If it is a larger project (large residence, interior and exterior in same appointment, commercial property, or new subdivision homes palettes) we will discuss time and project scope to determine if another consult or additional time is needed.
The rate is $100 for a 90-minute consultation. Payment is due at time of consultation (Cash, Check, Credit Card). For large scale projects or commercial projects, payment terms are discussed and services are outlined in a Letter of Agreement. Letter of Agreement must be signed and approved prior to commencement of any color design services.
The costs include general follow-up and questions. However, if you desire a complete reselection, a new consultation rate and appointment applies.
The $100 rate is for a 25-mile (1-way) or 50-mile roundtrip from Salem, Oregon. Please contact us if you need color consultations services outside this general area.
Yes, we understand that when talking about color-hue and shade-value things can be confusing. We explain terminology not only for paint, but for process as well.
Yes. What is happening with our lighting choices can be confusing for a client. We can explain your choices and give you the information you need to select what works best for your situation.
Since new finishes have a tremendous impact on the overall appearance of the space and how paint colors “read”, it is imperative to have all finishes selected and samples onsite at time of the consultation. (i.e., flooring, countertops, tile, cabinets colors if using prefinished cabinets, wood tone samples).
Inspiration photos (such as Pinterest, Houzz, etc) are very helpful in communicating your vision.
Yes. How paint is made is very technical and we stay current with the ever-changing technology of paints, primers, stains and clear finishes.
Sheens vary with each paint manufacturer and it is important to understand this when selecting the sheen for your rooms.
Yes. You’re provided with a written color palette and placement. This can be used to send out to contractors for bids. If you have already chosen your painter, you must review what we have discussed to ensure it is covered in your quote.
Yes, you can have the match done at the local paint store of your choice. There are industry acceptable tolerances as it relates to paint matches. Please make sure you compare the final color in the paint product to your color chip for accuracy.
